Warwick, R.I. – October 2, 2015: The CCRI women’s soccer team traveled to Franklin, MA yesterday to take on Region XXI Division I rival Bulldogs of Dean College. With the victory the Lady Knights are now 7-3 overall, 3-0 in region XXI and 1-0 in their conference (DI Region XXI).
The Lady Knights exploded for seven first half goals. Freshman forward Emma Manosh (Warwick, RI) started the barrage as she scored the first goal on a pass from freshman forward Kyanna Ivey-Jones (Pawtucket, RI) in the fifteenth minute of play. Ivey-Jones scored two minutes later on a pass from sophomore midfielder Catherine Lopes (Warren, RI). Other goals scored in the first half were by: Catherine Lopes, Elizabeth Gemmell (Warwick, RI), Tri-Captain Kendra Levesque (Warwick, RI), Tri-Captain Jennifer Kilburn (Norton, MA), the second for Kyanna Ivey-Jones.
The second half of play was not much different for the Lady Knights as they scored five more goals. Sophomore co-captain Kendra Levesque tallied three goals in the half giving her four goals on the day. Emma Manosh and Jennifer Kilburn each score their second goals on the afternoon. Sophomore Amber Duhamel (Pawtucket, RI) tallied three assists on the day and Catherine Lopes had a goal and two assists on the day. Freshman goalkeeper Ashley VanBemmelen (North Providence, RI) recorded her third shutout victory of the season.
The Lady Knights next game will be this Sunday at the CCRI soccer complex in Lincoln as they take on the Lady Knights of CCBC-Essex from Maryland for a morning kick-off at 11:00am.
