Warwick, R.I. – May 20, 2016: The CCRI Knights golf team traveled to the Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, MA began play in 2016 Region XXI Golf Tournament. The Knights put up the best team score with a low score of 326 followed by Dean at 378 and STCC at 392.
Leading the way for CCRI was Captain Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) who shot a team-low 75 followed by Matt O’Brien (Portsmouth, RI) who also shot under 80 with a 79. Macera and O’Brien were followed by Sam Caron (Cumberland, RI) and Eric Carlos (Newport, RI) who both shot an 86 for a team score of 326. Also participating for CCRI was Dan Hayes (Pawtucket, RI) who shot a very good round of 87, Meg Rocheleau (Warwick, RI) shot a 97 and Jackie French (Scituate, RI) shot a 119 but their scores were not used towards the team total of 326. The two other Region XXI teams that participated were Dean College who had a team score of 378 and Springfield Technical Community College with a team score of 392.
The teams all teed-off early this morning at 8:30 with the Knights looking to secure another Region XXI title.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
