Warwick, R.I. – March 28, 2016: The CCRI track & field team traveled to Bridgewater, MA to compete in the Bridgewater State University Bears Invitational. This was a non-team scoring meet but the Knights did have some very good individual performances.
Leading the way for the Knights was sophomore Lee Mandanici (Medina, OH) placed 11th in 400m run in a time of 54.10. Freshman Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) placed 18th in the 1,500m run in a time of 4 minutes 24.27 seconds. Mike Dutka (Chepachet, RI) placed 17th in the 10,000m in a time of 37:32.27. Also doing very well for the Knights was Connor Williamson (West Warwick, RI) placed 11th in the 110m Hurdles in a time of 20.95 seconds. Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) placed 62nd in the 800m run in a time of 2:37.59. In the 200m dash Mandanici placed 16th in 23.90 seconds and Williamson placed 39th in 25.22 seconds. Rounding out the men’s action was an impressive performance form the 4x400 team of Fletcher, Sankey, Dutka and Mandanici placed 7th in a time of 4:03.98
Two Lady Knights competed also competed at the Bears Invite Nina Perez (Providence, RI) placed 63rd in the 100m in a time of 15.99,51st in the 200m in a time of 33.30 and 30th in the 400m in 1:15.59. Alicia Moran (Warwick, RI) placed 22ndin the shot put with a 25’06” mark and 23rd in the discus with a 68’00” effort.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented on the CCRI performance: “Good start to the season for the CCRI athletes.”
The next meet for CCRI will be this Saturday April 2nd when they travel to Dartmouth, MA to compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Corsair Invitational beginning at 7:30am.
