Sankey and Williamson lead CCRI at Wesleyan Invite!

Warwick, R.I. – July 16, 2009: The CCRI Knights Indoor Track team traveled to Middletown, CT to Compete in the Wesleyan Invite II on Saturday. It was a non-team scoring event however, CCRI did have some stellar performances.

Both Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) and Connor Williamson (West Warwick, RI) led the way for CCRI. Williamson placed 5th in the Long Jump with a 6.04m leap. Sankey ran another personal-best in the 1,000m run of two minutes 45.64 seconds to place 5th overall. Middle –distance specialist Lee Mandanici (Medina, OH) also placed in the Top 10 of the 400m dash with a 53.55 seconds effort. Mandanici came back with a season-best performance in the 200m with a fine time of 23.92 seconds which placed him 14th overall.

Other athletes competing at the Wesleyan II meet were Giovanni Colon (Providence, RI) who placed 33rd in the 60m dash in a time of 7.98 seconds. Colon also placed 32nd in the 200m dash in a time of 25.16 seconds. Middle-distance runner Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) placed 25th in the 600m run in a time of 1:48.23 and placed 47th in the 200m dash with a 29.62 seconds effort. Williamson and Sankey returned to run the 200m race placing 35th in 25.56 seconds and 38th in 26.01 seconds respectively.

The sole Lady Knight to race was Nina Perez (Providence, RI) who placed 34th in the 400m with a season-best time of 1:17.04. Perez also ran a season-best time in the 200m of 33.35 placing her 49th.
