Warwick, R.I. – December 17, 2015: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) in Charlestown, MA on Wednesday evening to play the Lady Bulldogs of BHCC for a Region XXI non-league game. The Lady Knights defeated the Lady Bulldogs 77-42. With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in Region XXI play.
The Lady Knights and Lady Bulldogs met for the second time this season with the Lady Knights winning their first meeting 67-27 on November 3rd. This contest started out much more closely with CCRI taking a slim 11-7 lead after the first quarter. CCRI took a quick 5-0 lead before BHCC rallied back to tie the score 7-7 before the Lady Knights closed the quarter with a 4-0 run to lead 11-7. Once again both teams played closely in the second quarter with BHCC having their best offensive quarter versus CCRI scoring 21 total points with the Lady Knights scoring 24. Bunker Hill got 10 points from Regine Exume including three 3-pointers but CCRI answered back with eight points form Kennethah Harden (Roosevelt, NY) and seven from Captain Haley Beausoleil (Plainfield, CT) including two 3-pointers to make the score 35-28 CCRI.
In the second half the Lady Knights reasserted their defensive pressure to hold Bunker Hill to just six points while scoring 17 themselves. With balanced scoring and excellent defense the Lady Knights extended the lead to 18 points 52-34 and never looked back while holding Bunker Hill to just eight points in the fourth quarter as they went on to win buy the final count of 77-42.
The Lady Knights had five players scoring in double-figures led by Sophomore Captain Haley Beausoleil who scored a team-high 20 points, including thee 3-pointers with four rebounds and three assists. Beausoleil was helped by freshman point guard Alexis Antonacci (Plainview, NY) who added 15 points including two 3-pointers with a team high nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Adding to the CCRI attack was Kennethah Harden with 12 points and five rebounds while Mackenzie Brayman (North Stonington, CT) and Carol Rodriguez (Pawtucket, RI) added 10 points apiece and combined for nine rebounds. Chuckearah Johnson led all scoring a game-high 22 points for BHCC.
The next game for the Lady Knights will be Saturday the 19th when they travel to Southern Maine Community College in Portland, ME at 1:00pm.
