Warwick, R.I. – April 29, 2016: The CCRI Lady Knights softball team traveled to Franklin, MA to play The Bulldogs of Dean College for a Region XXI league doubleheader. The Lady Knights defeated the Bulldogs 13-0 and 12-4. With the victories the Lady Knights improve to 18-8 overall and 11-1 in Region XXI play.
In the circle for the Lady Knights was Courtney Sheridan (Warwick, RI) who threw her second no-hitter on the season in the 13-0 shutout. Sheridan threw five inning s of hitless ball walking three and striking out seven Bulldogs’ batters to pick up her 12 win of the year!
The game was scoreless through the first two innings until CCRI put up three runs in the third inning. Bella Malvinni (Westerly, RI) singled and stole second and got to third on a passed ball followed by a Meg Rousseau (Richmond, RI) walked BB and went to second in 1st and 3rd situation and Kristina Rodriguez (North Kingstown, RI) hit a 2-RBI double and Rodriguez later scored on a passed ball. The Lady Knights tacked on three more in the fourth before exploding for a seven spot in the fifth to win by the final count of 13-0.
For the game Meg Rousseau went 2-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI followed by Kristina Rodriguez whop was 2-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBIs. Also having a multi-hit game was Jenna Beauchamp (Warwick, RI) who was 2-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Tri-Captain Jenna Urso (West Warwick, RI) was 2-4 with double and run scored, and Mikayla Fernandez (Burrillville, RI) also was 2-3 with a double two runs scored. Bella Malvinni, Maddy Cooper (Pawtucket, RI) and Tri-Captain Erica Jewett (Coventry, RI) each added a hit apiece.
In the circle for game two once again was Courtney Sheridan who picked up her 13th victory of the year. Sheridan threw five strong innings allowing four runs, just two earned on four hits and four walks while striking out seven batters to give her 125 strikeouts on the season. This game was muck closed than the first of the doubleheader with the score 3-2 CCRI after the first inning and 4-3 CCRI after the third inning. But over the final two frames the Lady Knights outscored the Bulldogs 8-1 to pull away for the 12-4 victory.
The first big offensive blow for the Lady Knights was in the first inning when Jenna Beauchamp launched her second homer of the year, a two-run bomb to score Meg Rousseau. CCRI would tack on an unearned run to lead in the first 3-2. Beauchamp continued her hot-hitting day with a two RBI single in the fourth inning. The Lady Knights closed out the victory with a five run fifth sparked by an RBI triple form Meg Rousseau and two-run Home Run from Kristina Rodriguez.
Leading the way for CCRI was Jenna Beauchamp who went 3-4 with four RBIs a run scored, with a Home Run and a triple for the day Beauchamp hit for the cycle! Also having a big offensive day was Kristina Rodriguez who was 2-3 with three runs scored three RBIs with a Home Run while Meg Rousseau went 2-4 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI.
The Lady Knights will host Dean College in the Region XXI Tournament this weekend at Winslow Park 300 Airport Rd Warwick, RI. This will also be CCRI sophomore day when they will celebrate the final home games of their seven sophomores. The schedule for the Tournament will be:

3:00pm Game 3: Lady Knights vs. Dean College
