Ian Anderson (Warwick, RI) finished 62nd out of 104 runners to lead the Knights’ cross country team at CCRI’s Tri-State Open on Saturday.
Anderson finished with a time of 32 minutes 50.62 seconds, while Jared Gruslin (North Smithfield, RI) finished in 66th with a time of 33:03.63. Sophomore Joe Gareri (Uxbridge, MA) placed 84th in a time of 35:17.28 and Nelson Moreno (Central Falls, RI), who was running in his first ever cross country race, placed 92nd with a time of 37:33.34.
The Knights now have a week off, which will allow the team to work on improvements for the remaining races of the season.
CCRI will return to action on Friday, October 17, when the Knights compete in the Emmanuel College Saints Invite in Boston, MA. That will be followed by the Boston Mayors’ Cup on Sunday, October 26, and the CCRI Northeast Invitational on Saturday, November 1.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
