Warwick, R.I. - November 12, 2014: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team hosted the Tigers of Roxbury Community College from Roxbury, MA in a Region XXI non-league game. The Lady Knights lost to the Tigers 93-61. With the loss the Lady Knights record drops to 2-1 over all 2-1 in Region XXI play.
Both teams battled closely in the first half with Roxbury taking a 37-31 lead into the halftime break. However, the Lady Knights were already getting into foul trouble. In the second half the Tiger of Roxbury were able to extend their lead to 16 points and The Lady Knights had two starters with four fouls. With the foul total climbing and tough play form Roxbury the Tigers kept extending their lead as they would go on to win by the final score of 93-61.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Tri-Captain Jesse Ossian (Chandler, AZ) with a team-high 18 points including a perfect 10 of 10 from the free throw line with eight assists and seven rebounds followed by Tri-Captain LaShana Tolliver (Watervliet, NY) with 17 points, and eight rebounds. Rounding out the Lady Knights offensive attack was Tri-Captain Amber Edwards (Boston, MA) with eight points and six rebounds and Lyric Artis (Albany, NY) with eight points.
The next games for the Lady Knights will be next weekend when they travel to Frederick, MD to compete in their Best Western Invitational. Saturday the 15th the Lady Knights will face Frederick CC at 3pm and Sunday the 16th they will face defending Region XX Champion Chesapeake College.
