The CCRI Cross Country team hosted the CCRI Northeast Cross Country Invitational at the Flanagan Campus in Lincoln Saturday. The men’s race had 48 runners and the women’s race had 20 runners. The men’s team winner was Rowan College with 24 points. On the women’s side Essex County College won with 21 points. The individual men’s winner was Shaquille Sutherlan of Essex County College in a time of 28 minutes 26 seconds. The women’s individual winner was Jennaya Hield of Essex County College in a time of 20:18.00.
The CCRI Knights had some good individual showings at the CCRI Northeast Invitational with Ian Anderson (Warwick, RI) running his best time of the year 30:31 to place 14th. Anderson was followed by Jared Gruslin (North Smithfield, RI) who placed 23rd in a time of 32:44 and Joseph Gareri (Uxbridge, MA) placed 37th in a time of 34:56. All three men’s times were their best on the CCRI 8k course this year.
The Knights’ runners have showed steady improvement all year and are peaking at the correct time as they now head into the Division III Men’s Cross Country National Championship at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY Saturday November 8th beginning at 11:00am.
