Warwick, R.I. – April 28, 2015: In a crucial Region XXI matchup, the CCRI Knights baseball team took on the Pointers of UConn Avery-Point in a three game series over the weekend. UCAP showed their strength the whole weekend by sweeping the Knights by the scores of 11-3, 8-5, and 13-5. The losses put the Knights at 13-12 on the year while also putting their Region XXI record at 4-6 on the year. The outcome of the series also guaranteed the Region XXI Championship will be held at UConn Avery-Point.
Stephen Adams (Jacksonville, FL) had a very nice weekend for the Knights recording four hits and also adding two runs scored and two RBI’s. Co-Captain TJ Boyajian (Warwick, RI) had five hits on the weekend while scoring once and adding one RBI. Freshman Ryan Rotondo (Warwick, RI) kept up his solid hitting with four hits over the weekend and scored twice while chipping in one RBI. Dan Autiello (Orlando, FL) was able to crank the Knights only home run over the weekend while adding two runs and two hits.
The Knights will look to bounce back on Monday with another Region XXI matchup vs Holyoke Community College. The Knights will also play two home games this week on Tuesday and Wednesday at Fell Field in Warwick, the first against Navy Prep (Newport, RI) and the second against Franklin Pierce Club team.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
