Warwick, R.I. – April 20, 2015: The CCRI Knights Track & Field team traveled to Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA to compete in the Eric Loeschner Invitational. The Knight scored eight team points to tie for 16th place while WPI won the Meet with 186.5 team points.
Freshman Connor Williamson (West Warwick, RI) led the Knights scoring all of the team’s points placing 6th in the 110m hurdles in a season-best effort of 17.92 seconds. Williamson then came back to place 7th in the long jump with a 6.31m leap. He finished the day by placing 9th in the triple jump with a 12.02m performance. Also performing well was sophomore middle distance runner Britton Laney (Pascoag, RI) who ran a season-best time in the 800m placing 12th in 2 minutes 8.45 seconds. Javier Vasquez (Providence, RI) jumped a season-best in the high jump which was 1.80m. Lee Mandanici (Median, OH) placed 20th in the 400m with a time of 54.45seconds then placed 24th in the 200m in a time of 24.12 seconds. Also running the 200m was Rainer Martinez (North Providence, RI), John Vicario (Johnston, RI) and Javier Vasquez. Vasquez placed 44th in 25.41 seconds. Martinez placed 48th in 25.41 seconds and Vicario was 556th in a time of 27.86 seconds. Martinez placed 42nd in the 100m dash in a time of 12.78 and Vicario placed 48th in the 100m in a time of 13.09 seconds.
The next meet for the Knights will be this Saturday when they travel to Boston, MA to compete in the Regis Invitational beginning at 10am.
