The CCRI cross country runners traveled to Bryant University in Smithfield, RI to compete in the 13th Annual Nassaney Memorial Races. The Knights did not have a complete team (five runners) but did put forth some excellent individual efforts.
Leading the way on the men’s side was David Palkovic (Middletown, RI) who placed 39th in the College Varsity 5k in a time of 17 minutes 8 seconds. The field was made up of eight NCAA Division I NCAA teams and Palkovic ran very well in one of the most competitive fields he will see this year.
The three other Knights raced in the Memorial Open 5k also did well. They were led by Daniel Duquette (North Attleboro, MA) placed 13th in a time of 19:36 followed by Britton Laney (Pascoag, RI) who placed 22nd in a time of 20:05 and rounding out the Knights in the Open race was Joseph Gareri (Uxbridge, MA) who placed 56th in a time of 23:21.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the races: “We are off to an early start with some good efforts by our Knights.”
The next meet for the Knights will be this Saturday the 14th when they will travel to Rindge, NH to compete in the Franklin Pierce Invite beginning at 10:00am.
