Select members of the CCRI Cross Country Team traveled to Henniker, NH to compete in the Mayflower Kick-Off Invitational at New England College. CCRI did not have a complete team on men’s or women’s side but did compile some excellent individual performances.
Leading the way for the Knights was David Palkovic (Middletown, RI) placing 10th out of 123 runners over at the Kick-off Invitational with an impressive time of 17 minutes 9 seconds over the 5k course. This is Palkovic’s first ever top-10 finish at a college cross country race. David was followed by freshmen Britton Laney (Pascoag, RI) who placed 73rd in a fine time of 20:31. Laney was followed by Joseph Gareri (Uxbridge, MA) placed 92nd in a time of 21:38.
Sophomore Meaghan Shanley (Warwick, RI) was the only CCRI Lady Knight who raced and she placed 115th in the women’s 5k with a time of 30:43.
This was a very early meet for us and the few athletes who followed through on their training and student athlete responsibilities held their own.
