CCRI Lady Knights’ Volleyball Tri-Captain Middle Hitter Janny Cabrera (Providence, RI) has been named NJCAA National Player of the Week of Division II women’s Volleyball for the week of October 16th-22nd 2013!
Cabrera has been a national statistical leader for the Lady Knights who have a 4-3 overall record. Janny has been a major contributor for CCRI this year. She is ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA among Division II players with 6.4 kills per set, No. 3 in the nation in kills per set with 4.5. In addition, she is also ranked No. 23 in blocks per set with 1.15 per set, No. 35 in Aces per set with .6 and No. 40 in Digs per set with 4.7.
During the week of October 16th when she earned player of the week Cabrera was at the top of her game averaging 4.73 Kills per set, hitting at a rate of 46% efficiency with 1.66 Assists per set. In addition, Janny added 4.6 digs per set, 1.11 Blocks per set and 1.36 service Aces per set.
Head Coach Sam Amaral commented on the Lady Knights’ standout: “Janny was a force to be reckoned with last week and exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete and captain at CCRI.”
