The CCRI Knights and Lady Knights track teams traveled to north Dartmouth, mA to compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Corsair Invitational on Saturday. The Knights finished 21 with 2 points as Bridgewater State won the men’s side with 113 points and the women did not garner any points and Colby College won the women’s team event with 137 total points.
The Knights were led by Joshua Rembert (Boston, MA) who placed eighth in the 110m High Hurdles with a fine time of 16.29 seconds. Rembert also placed 13th in the 400m with a season best time of 52.38 seconds. He had a very busy day as he came back to run a season best time of 23.80 seconds in the 200m dash to place 24th. Also in the 200m Steven Croft (Warwick, RI) placed 8th in a time of 23.09 seconds. Croft and Rembert were the only CCRI participants to score points on the day. Samson Olowoporoku (Osun-State, Nigeria) placed 10th in the 400m with his season-best time of 52.02 seconds. Samson also ran a nice 200m placing 23rd with a time of 23.72 seconds. Thrower Kevin Redmond (South Kingstown, RI) placed 28th in the shot put with a toss of 10.95m (35’11.25”). Austin White (Woonsocket, RI) placed 26th in the Javelin with a toss of 37.05m (121’07”) in his first time ever competing in the event. White came back and placed 56th in the 200m dash with a time of 25.00 seconds. Britton Laney (Pascoag, RI) ran a career-best time in the 1,500m of four minutes 49.84 seconds which placed him 60th. Joseph Gareri (Uxbridge, MA) also ran a career-best in the 1,500m to place 69th in a time of 4:57.84. Diego Pezoa-Sir (West Warwick, RI) running in his first meet placed 76th in the 1,500m in a time of 5:28.60. All three men came back in the 800m: with Laney placing 61st in a time of 2:22.87, Gareri placing 67th in a personal-best time of 2:24.86, and Pezoa-Sir placing 76th in a time of 2:42.37. Rounding out the Knights’ performers was Nelson Moreno (Pawtucket, RI) also ran the 800m in a personal-best time of 2:30.52 which placed him 71st.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Haley Beausoleil (Plainfield, CT) who had a busy day placing13th in the Javelin with a toss of 31.00m (101’08”). Beausoleil also placed 14th in the 400m with a time of one minute 3.71 seconds. She then came back to place 35th in the 200m with a time of 28.67. Delyn Pizarro (Homestead FL) also competing in her first Meet as a Lady Knight placed 23rd in the discus with a throw of 26.01m (85’04”). Rounding out the Lady Knights’ competitors was Teondra Silva (Barrington, RI) who placed 30th in the 100m dash in a time of 13.66 seconds. Silva also placed 53rd in the 200m dash in a time of 29.91 and 20th in the long jump with a leap of 3.98m (13’.75”).
The next meet for CCRI will be this Saturday when they travel to Middletown, CT to compete in the Elmer Swanson Invitational beginning at 11:00am.
