The CCRI Knights men’s soccer team traveled to Dilboy stadium in Somerville, MA to play the Shockers of Ben Franklin Institute of Technology for a Region XXI non-league game.  The Knights defeated the Shockers 7-0.  With the victory the Knights improve to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in Region XXI play.

The Knights started the scoring in the first half with Servi Barrientos (Providence, RI) scoring on a free kick to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage.  The second Knights’ goal was scored by Prince Tahyor (Providence, RI) who scored a goal assisted by Barrientos.  CCRI kept rolling as Aris Santiago (Seekonk, MA) scored and was assisted by Co-Captain Manny Alves (Pawtucket, RI).  The Knights capped the high-scoring first half with Prince Tahyor tallying his second goal of the half, once again assisted by Servi Barrientos giving the Knights the comfortable 4-0 halftime advantage.

In the second half CCRI picked-up right where they left off with Luis Duarte (Pawtucket, RI) scored his first goal of the game assisted by Tahyor.  Duarte wasn’t done as he scored again a few minutes later assisted by Matthew Harkin (Foster, RI).  The Knights rounded out the scoring attack with Co-Captain Manny Alves scoring assisted by Harkin who tallied his second assist of the game making the final score 7-0.

The Knights next game will be this Saturday at 11am when they will host the undefeated 7-0 and No. 4 ranked (NJCAA Division I poll) Tribunes of Monroe Community College at the CCRI soccer complex in Lincoln.
