The CCRI Cross Country runners traveled to Concord, NH to compete in the New Hampshire Technical Institute Lynx Invitational.  Both CCRI men’s and women’s teams were incomplete (less than five runners) so they only had individual times recorded.

On the men’s side for the Knights, Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI) won the Lynx Invite with an impressive course record of 25 minutes and 55 seconds over the 8k course.  The next closest competitor to Allen, who averaged 5:11 per mile, was Ignacio Harnando from NHTI coming in a 28:48, averaging 5:46 per mile, finished nearly three minute later. Also having an excellent race for the Knights was David Palkovic (Middletown, RI) who ran his best time ever with a 29:36 over the flat NHTI course. This was Palkovic’s best time by a whopping 1 minute and 24 seconds. Austin White (Woonsocket, RI) placed 11th also running his best 8k time of his career finishing in 34:05. Rounding out the Knights’ runners was Edward Polanco (Woonsocket, RI) who ran steady to finish in in 14th place with a time of 41:46.

For the Lady Knights Olivia Emerick (Cranston, RI) ran her best race of the season over the long 6k course. Emerick placed 4th in a time of 30:20. Meaghan Shanley (Warwick, RI) was just behind her also running her best race with a 6th place finish in a time of 32:03 over the 6k course.

Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the race: “A good individual effort by the runners on the CCRI team. We will return to NHTI next week and the athletes now know the course and we look for all to improve on their personal bests.”
