Knights’ baseball signs Casey Mack
The CCRI Knights’ baseball team signed another prized recruit recently with the signing of third baseman Casey Mack (Trumbull, CT) out of Trumbull High School.
Mack was the starting third baseman for the Connecticut State Champion Golden Eagles of Trumbull High School. Mack also earned many postseason awards including being honored with the Jerry McDougal Sportsmanship Award, being named to the All-West Team for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (both awards were from FCIAC). In addition, he earned himself and his high school national recognition for one of the Liberty Mutual Top 10 Responsible Sports Moments of 2013. After a game versus Bridgeport Central, a team with a smaller and stricter athletics budget than that of his own school, Casey approached the opposing coach, Ely Drysten, to tell him how much respect he had for his team and their hard work and as a token of his appreciation for their efforts on the field he gifted the team with brand new baseball bats bought with his own money earned from a part-time job and birthday monies. He did so without the knowledge of his coach and or teammates and wanted no recognition for the act. Here is a link to CT Post story about the selfless act:
CCRI welcomes Casey Mack as he begins his collegiate career for the Knights and look forward to seeing him on the baseball field for CCRI.
