No. 11 ranked Lady Knights Crush Colts 88-32!

The No.11 ranked CCRI Lady Knights basketball team hosted the Colts of Orange County Community College from Middletown, NY on Saturday.  The Lady Knights defeated the Colts 88-32.  With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 17-2 on the season.
 
The Lady Knights dominated the game from the beginning and took a 42-24 lead into halftime. CCRI kicked their defensive pressure up a notch in the second half and limited the Colts to just eight second half points as they cruised to the 88-32 victory.   
 
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Lexi Barros (New Bedford) with 18 points, six rebounds, eight assists and six steals and Co-Captain Jahira Smith (Brooklyn, NY) charted a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds while adding eight steals, and seven assists.  With 273 career assists Smith needs just two assists to pass Nicole Girard (274) on the CCRI All-time assist list. Also helping the Lady Knights was Moe Plummer (Fairfield, CT) with 15 points five rebounds, three steals, and three assists and Nyjah Porcher (New Britain, CT) just missed a double;-double scoring 15 points with nine rebounds. Alexis Tripodo led Orange County with 15 points (all in first half).
 
Head Coach Kate Lynch commented after the game “We were a little flat today, but came out with good intensity in the second half holding them to eight points.  We shared the ball well and got to the basket for easy scores.”
 
The Lady Knights are back in action Saturday the 26th at1:00pm when they host the Lions of Nassau Community College at the Vincent A. Cullen Fieldhouse located on the CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick.     
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
