CCRI 15 Mass Bay CC 1 Five innings by Mercy Rule

The Knights offense continued to roll as they pounded out 11 hits in four innings and defeated Mass Bay CC 15-1 to raise their record to 7-6. The offense exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the first inning led by Mike Sherburne’s (North Kingstown, RI) single and home run as the team batted around the order. Ryan Wordell (Little Compton, RI) also contributed two hits and scored two runs in another offensive show by the Knights. Again, solid pitching contributed to a dominating performance as Rob West (East Windsor, CT) threw five complete innings giving up six hits and one run while striking out six to pick up the win. The game was halted after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Head Coach Ken Hopkins commented: “The offense continues to pound the ball while the pitching and defense continue to be solid.  Mass Bay seemed completely overmatched in this rout.”

The Knights travel to Eastern Connecticut State College on Friday to play their JV team for a game beginning at 1:00pm
