CCRI- 7 Eastern Connecticut JV- 3
The Knights continued their winning ways with a seven run second inning as they defeated the Eastern Connecticut JV squad 7-3. Freshman Ryan O’Dell (Lincoln, RI) led the Knights’ attack with a single and a double with two RBIs and freshman Patrick O’Keefe (East Greenwich, RI) added a two RBIs single as the team improved to 8-6 on the season. Sophomore lefty Max Perry (Pawtucket, RI) was dominant in his start on the mound as he allowed only one earned run and three hits over six innings to pick up the win. Perry also had four strike outs and according to Head Coach Ken Hopkins, “Max had pinpoint control against a very solid Warrior team. He pounded the strike zone and continually stayed ahead of the hitters.” Kevin Dale (Warwick, RI), Shane Johnson (Warwick, RI), and closer Jay Ferri (North Kingstown, RI) shut down the Warriors over the final three innings to preserve the win for Perry.
The Knights are back in action Saturday when they will travel to Franklin, MA to play the Bulldogs of Dean College for a Region XXI league doubleheader beginning at 12:00noon.
