The CCRI Knights cross country team traveled to Franklin Park in Boston, MA to compete in the 2011 Cod Fish Bowl.  The Knights finished 22nd out of 26 teams with 594 points and Bates College winning with 49 points (Note: similar to golf the lowest score is the best score).

Leading the Knights was Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI) who placed 28th for 27 points in a time of 26 minutes 58 seconds over a muddy hard Franklin Park 8k course. Cole Maguire (Foster, RI) placed 170th for 105 points in his first race of the season with a good starting time of 30:32. Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) ran for 228th place for 139 points with a fine time of 32:27 and Stefan Cox (West Kingston, RI) placed 258th  for 158 points)in a time of 35:03. Rounding out the Knights’ squad was Chris Mann (West Warwick, RI) running his first Cross Country race in over four years ran strong with a 269th for 165 points place in a time of 36:15. Individually, the race was won by Rich Peters from Boston University in a time of 25:11.

Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the race “It was nice to see the men work as a team. The guys were upset with their times but with warm muggy conditions over a sloppy tough course they held their own.”

The Knights’ next meet will be this Saturday October 1st when they host the Tri-State Invitational on the CCRI Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, the men start at 10:00am and the women at 11:00am.
