On Sunday the No. 13 ranked National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Lady Knights traveled to Syracuse, NY to take on the Bobcats Bryant & Stratton College.  The Lady Knights defeated the Bobcats 6-0. With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 5-1 on the season.

The Bobcats came out playing quite physical and fast but it still didn’t take the Lady Knights long to find the back of the net as freshman midfielder Jessica Sandin (Warwick, RI) found the back of the net on a pass from freshman forward Jessica McCaughey (Warwick, RI).  CCRI continued to pressure the Bobcats scoring again but the referee called back the goal for a foul on a CCRI player.  In the last 10 minutes of the half CCRI scored twice on a goal by freshman Cassie Tasich (Wakefield, RI) on an assist from Sandin.  Sandin scored again on an assist from freshman forward/midfielder Caitlyn McGarry (Warwick, RI) to close out the half at 3-0.

In the second half the Lady Knights continued to dominate the match but Bryant & Stratton continue to hang around as CCRI could not seem to find the net.  With 18 minutes left in the match freshman defender Brittany Croll (East Greenwich, RI) scored on a long high shot from 25 yards out to beat the Bobcat’s goalkeeper assisted by Caitlyn McGarry.  Three minutes later Jessica Sandin scored her third goal of the contest unassisted as she dribbled past the B & S defense and tucked a shot along the ground past the goalkeeper and into the net making the score 5-0.  A few minutes later freshman forward Jessica McCaughey was awarded a penalty kick as she was taken down in the 18 yard box area.  McCaughey took the shot and hit the top cross bar with a solid hit on the ball.  With seven minutes left in the contest Freshman Cassie Tasich scored her second goal of the day onMcGarry’s third assist on the day rounding out the score to 6-0.  Freshman Goalkeeper Kelsey Viens (No. Attleboro, MA) recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Knights.

The Lady Knights’ next match will be this Thursday as they host Region XXI foe Massasoit Community College at 4:00pm at the CCRI Soccer complex in Lincoln, RI.
