Allen finishes Third at Saints Invite!
Members of the CCRI men’s cross country team traveled to Franklin Park in Boston, MA to compete in the Emmanuel College Saints Invitational. Due to academic commitments and a small injury the Knights were forced to run in the Emanuel Saints Invite as an incomplete team. This did not prevent the four Knights that took to trip up to Boston’s Franklin Park from running great races in the pouring rain over a very muddy course.
The Knights’ top runner, Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI), led CCRI with a third place finish in a time of 26 minutes 48 seconds. Knights’ sophomore Cole Maguire (Foster, RI) broke into the top third of the 162 man field with a 40th place finish in a season best time of 30:28. Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) placed 89th in a time of 33:17 and Chris Mann (West Warwick, RI) ran his best 8k of the season placing106th in a time of 34:30.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the race: “Running incomplete for the second time this season is a bit of a letdown but things happen for a reason. The rest for our two missing runners should help the team in the long run coming down the last three weeks of the season.”
The Knights’ next meet will be this Saturday October 22nd when they travel to Concord, NH to compete in the New Hampshire Tech Invitational beginning at 11:30am.
