Match 1: CCRI defeats Nashua Community College 25-13 and 25-8
All of the Lady Knights set high goals for this weekend whether it was not having any hitting error or serving four aces. They all worked very hard to obtain their individual goal. We wanted to use these games as practice for the District Tournament, concentrating things like: picking up tips where we find the most trouble during a game and also covering open areas.
Annie Ragan (North Kingstown, RI) led the Lady Knights finishing the match with six kills and seven digs while being loud and aggressive and a true leader on the court. Head Coach Samantha Reyes commented: “I was proud of Annie this weekend despite all the injuries she has had to overcome. Stephanie (Jefferies) really shined in this game and played the best I have seen her play. She was aggressive and strong and I was very proud to see all the work she put into this season.” Jefferies finished with three kills and 1.5 blocks. Reyes added “Johnna (Gulluscio) also played great in the back row not letting any balls drop and communicating very well. I was very happy because she has worked very hard this season to become a better player.
Match 2: CCRI defeats Holyoke Community College 25-16 and 25-15
After a very emotional Sophomore Day Ceremony they had to play a game. Coach Reyes added “These girls played hard and wanted their last game at home to be worth it. I saw the team start playing together and fighting for every single point. Leaving everything on the court making their final game memorable for all the right reason.
The sophomores really came through led by Tri-Captain Courtney Piccirillo who finished with 10 assists, seven digs and two blocks followed by Tri-Captain Karla Santizo who finished the match with 17 digs and three aces with only one error that entire match. Also playing well was
