Knights sink Springfield Tech 82-45!
The CCRI Knights men’s basketball team hosted the Rams of Springfield Technical Community College from Springfield, MA on Saturday for their first Region XXI showdown. The Knights defeated the Rams 82-45. With the victory the Knights improve to 4-0 on the season ad 1-0 in Region XXI play.
The Knights came out firing on all cylinders on Saturday for their first Region XXI match-up versus interdivisional foe Rams of Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). The Knights used their stifling defense, athleticism and unselfish play to make quick work of the visiting Rams. The Knights outscored the Rams 51-26 by the half and in the second they continued as they stretched their lead to as many as 30 points and eventually winning by the final score of 82-45.
The Knights were led by freshman Anthony Henry (Danbury, CT) with a game-high 17 points adding four rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot followed by freshman Isaac Medeiros(Johnston, RI) with 10 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. Also contributing for the Knights was Addison Williams (Boulder, CO) with 10 points, four rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot, Trevor Mabry (Norwich, CT) added eight points, four rebounds and three blocked shots, Roger Livramento (Central Falls, RI) led the Knights with eight rebounds and six points while Desmond Williams (Torrington, CT) added a team-high seven assists and eight points including two 3-pointers. Defensively the Knights had 23 steals, 14 blocked shots and 24 assists in their team victory.
Head Coach Rick Harris commented after the victory: “Nice team win today. We played hard and together for two halves. That’s all a coach can ask of his team.”
The Knights next contest will be a scrimmage versus Notre Dame Prep on Wednesday at 7:00pm at the Vincent A. Cullen Fieldhouse located on the CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick.
