On the mound for the Lady Knights Tri-Captain Devin Azulay (Attleboro, MA) got her first win of the 2012 season pitching five dominant innings. Azulay struck out four and gave up only one hit in the outing.
The CCRI offense was explosive from the first inning on, beginning with Kate Carroll (Coventry, RI) batting in the no. 2 slot picked-up her first collegiate homerun in the first inning. Carroll went 1- 1 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in her other at bats. Mel Iadeluca (Warwick, RI) picked-up where she left off last week, launching another homerun in the first inning as well, going 3-3 on the game, just missing the cycle again with a single, double and homerun and Izzy MarcAurele (Cranston, RI) added another 2-run homerun in the fourth to help the Lady Knights.
After the game Head Coach Liz Afonso commented: “It was great to see the explosive offense that I know this team is capable of today. If we continue to be hot at the bats, we will be a powerhouse to contend with!”

On the mound for the Lady Knights Michelle Sylvestre (Warwick, RI) notched her third victory of the year throwing four strong innings allowing five hits, striking out two with no earned runs to improve to 3-0 on the season. Kayla Matarese (Cranston, RI) threw the last inning allowing one earned run. Defensively, the Lady Knights were solid all around with excellent leadership from Kate Carroll at shortstop.
Offensively the second game was a continuation of the first with the Knights scoring four runs in the first inning. Tri-Captain Ashley Olson (Coventry, RI) was red hot at the plate going 3-3 with a single and two doubles and Izzy MarcAurele homered yet again in the second game giving her two long balls on the day with three RBIs and a run scored in game two. Also helping the Lady Knights in game two was Devin Azulay with two hits and RBI and a run scored and Kyrie Craig (Warwick, RI) also had two hits an RBI and a run scored.
Coach Afonso added after game two: “Two solid wins today as we continue to get stronger and stronger offensively and more cohesive as a team. I look forward to our first Region XXI games this Thursday against Dean.”
