Knights 18 hits in four innings rocks Roxbury 16-0!
The CCRI Knights baseball team hosted the Tigers of Roxbury Community College for a Region XXI non-league game. The Knights erupted for 18 hits over four and a half innings to defeat the Tigers 16-0 by the mercy rule. With the victory the Knights improve to 10-7 overall and 2-1 in Region XXI play.

The CCRI Knights’ bats woke up on a blustery day at Harold “Whitey” Fell Field as the Knights pounded out 18 hits in a mercy rule four and a half inning game over Roxbury Community College of Roxbury, MA. The Knights scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning and seven more in the bottom of the third inning to pull away from Roxbury. CCRI finished their scoring with five more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as the scored soared to 16-0. The mercy rule was imposed after the Roxbury team was held scoreless after the top of the fifth inning.
On the mound for the Knights Kevin Dale (Warwick, RI) picked-up the win with a very effective five innings of shutout ball, scattering three hits and striking out six Tiger batters.
The Knights offense was led by Tyler Santaniello (Lincoln, RI) who was 3-3, scoring three times with three RBIs. Andrew Crowley (Simsbury, CT) added two hits and scored three runs while Mo Checo (Providence, RI), Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (North Stonington, CT), Jamale Horn (Hoover, AL), and Mike Sherburne (North Kingstown, RI), chipped in with two hits apiece to lead the Knights attack.
The Knights will be back at Fell Field on Wednesday to host Mass Bay Community College from Wellesley Hills, MA in a 4pm start.
