Knights baseball loses to DI Lake Sumter
The CCRI Knights baseball team concluded their Florida road trip by traveling to Leesburg, FL to play Lake Sumter Community College on Sunday. The Knights lost a two-run lead in the seventh inning to Division I power Lake Sumter to lose 8-5. With the loss, the Knights finish their Florida Spring with a record of 3 and 3 against some very good competition. The Knights overall record after their first three trips of the season is 6-6.

On the mound for the Knights Kevin Dale (Warwick, RI) pitched five innings giving up eight hits and three runs. Roger Lincoln (East Providence, RI) and Brendan Cabral (Scituate, RI) came on to try to protect the lead. Lincoln pitched a scoreless 6th inning but Cabral ran into trouble giving up four runs in the bottom of the seventh as Lake Sumter took the lead 7-5. The Lakers scored one more run in the eighth inning and the Knights left three runners stranded in the final two innings to make the final score 8-5 in favor of Lake Sumter.
Dylan Gracia (Middletown, RI) led the Knights offense with two hits and two RBIs, Tyler Santaniello (Lincoln, RI) chipped in with three hits and one run scored and Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (North Stonington, CT) continued his hot hitting with a double and two RBIs.
The Knights will play back-to-back doubleheaders (DH) at home this weekend against DI power Monroe College from New Rochelle, NY and a DH on Sunday against New England rival Northern Essex Community College from Haverhill, MA.
