The Knights were led by Desmond Williams (Torrington, CT) who scored a game-high 25 points, including three 3-pointers on 10 of 16 shooting from the floor while adding seven rebounds, five steals, four blocked shots and two assists. Williams was helped by Co-Captain Trevor Mabry (Norwich, CT) who charted a double-double consisting of 14 points and 11 rebounds with two blocked shots and two steals and Bryan Yarce (Cranston, RI) added seven points a season-high 11 assists, five rebounds, three steals and an offensive charge taken. Also helping the Knights was Isaac Medeiros (Johnston, RI) with 10 points and eight rebounds and front court mate Roger Livramento (Central Falls, RI) added six points, five rebounds, two blocked shots and a charge taken.
The Knights have many players ranked among the top in the nation statistically by the NJCAA in Division II. Bryan Yarce is ranked No. 14 in steals with 2.78 per game and 20th in assists with 5.6 per game. Desmond Williams is ranked No. 29 in steals with 2.55 per game and 48 in scoring with 17.7 points per game. Roger Livramento is ranked No. 16 in blocked shots with 2.2 blocks per game and 25th in rebounds with 10.1 per game. Jeff Schmeltz (Burrillville, RI) is ranked No. 37 in blocked shots with 1.67 per game while Trevor Mabry is ranked 44th in blocked shots with 1.56 per game. As a team the CCRI Knights are ranked No. 5 defensively allowing just 61.4 points per game.
Head Coach Rick Harris commented after the big victory: “I told the team they earned this victory! We don’t get big victories like this often, but our consistent daily hard work in practice, along with their great togetherness enabled us to have this surprisingly easy night. We will get back to work on Thursday and prepare for our game Saturday at Central Maine. As we have all season we will follow the recipe of preparation, hard work and togetherness.”
The Knights are back in action Saturday when they travel to Auburn, ME to play the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College at 2:00pm.
