Bobby Allen’s “4-1-1” is new CCRI record!
The CCRI indoor track team traveled to Boston, MA to compete in the Boston University Terrier Invitational on Saturday. Once again Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI) broke the CCRI mile record for the third time this season.
Bobby Allen proves himself in a field of some of the best athletes in the northeast placing 12th out of 143 men in the mile running once again for a new school record of 4 minutes 11.79 seconds. Allen smashed his previous record by over 10 seconds and is now ranked No. 1 on the NJCAA Division III performance rankings by Direct Athletics (the performance tracking service used by NJCAA). Bobby ran the second fastest time of any freshman at the Invitational in the mile run.
Also running well at this high-performance track and field event was Anthony Cox (Brooklyn, NY) placing 48th in the 60m dash in a time of 7.28 seconds. Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) placed 53rd in the 500m run in a time of 1:11.07. Marciano Brunette (Narragansett, RI) placed 103rd in the 400m dash in a time of 54.37. Steve Bell(Warwick, RI) placed 111th in the 400m with a time of 57.37 and Ben Marino (Warwick, RI) placed 129th in the mile in a time of 4:55.10. All the men ran for some of their best times of the season.
The next meet for the Knights will be next Friday and Saturday February 10th and 11th when they will return to Boston University for another Invitational Friday’s events will begin at 2:00pm and Saturday’s events will begin at 9:00am.
