The CCRI Knights men’s basketball team traveled to New Rochelle, NY to compete in the Monroe College Mustang Invitational over the weekend.  On Saturday they faced the Tribunes of Monroe Community College from Rochester, NY.  The Knights defeated the Tribunes 77-62.  With the victory the Knights improve to 8-0 on the season.

The Knights led the game from beginning to the end.  With freshman point guard Bryan Yarce (Cranston, RI) handling the full court pressure of Monroe CC flawlessly while getting another big scoring night out of Anthony Henry (Danbury, CT) who put forth his second consecutive 25-point game.  CCRI led by three 28-25 late in the first half and closed the half with a 6-2 run on two baskets by Yarce and one by Henry to give the Knights the 34-27 halftime lead.  The Knights were able to extend their lead to double-digits in the second half and cruise to the 77-62 victory over the highly touted Tribunes of Monroe Community College.

The Knights got another great night out of Anthony Henry who led the way with this impressive stat line: 25 points, nine rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. Henry was helped by Rogerio Livramento (Central Falls, RI) with a double-double consisting of 15 points, 12 rebounds while also blocking three shots.  Desmond Williams (Torrington, CT)  added 11 points two assists and three steals while point guard Bryan Yarce navigated through the Tribunes’ press with ease to score eight points, dish-out eight assists and swiping four steals.

Head Coach Rick Harris commented after the game “As I told the young men in the locker room prior to the game, NBA, Big East, and CCRI players all love to bring their ‘A’ game to the ‘Big Apple’.  Our young men brought their ‘A’ game with them today and we needed it taking on a team the caliber of Monroe CC.  Once again, our guys made it fun for me to coach today.  It is so easy when all fifteen guys are playing as one!”

The Knights have no time to rest as they will play Division I power Harcum College 5:00pm Sunday.
