Allen sets 3,000m record at Harvard Open!
Members of the CCRI men’s indoor track team traveled to Harvard University in Boston, MA on Saturday to compete in the Harvard Open. Their efforts were highlighted by a personal-best from Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) in the 800m run and another record for Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI).
Bobby Allen set the CCRI school record in the 3,000m run placing fifth in a record-setting time of 8 minutes 43.55 seconds. This was Allen’s second record in two weeks after setting the mile record last week at Wesleyan. Bobby’s time is also a NJCAA Division I nationals automatic qualifying time. Anthony Cox (Brooklyn, NY) keeps getting closer to the school record in the 60m dash also placing 5th in a time of 7.07 seconds less than two tenths off the time of 6.93 set by Blest Norris in 2010. Cox came back to place 14th out of 100 runners in the 200m dash in a season-best time of 23.23 seconds. Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) placed 22nd in the 800m run in a personal best of 2:08.53. Marciano Brunette (Narragansett, RI) placed 32nd in the 800m in a time of 2:15.87. Colin Sutherland (Warwick, RI) placed 68th in the mile in a time of 5:43.11. Rounding out the Knights’ runners was Steve Bell(Warwick, RI) who placed 35th in the 500m dash in a time of 1:16.35 and the 4x400m team of Bell, Hector, Brunette and Allen placed 19th in a time of 3:44.27.
The Knights’ next meet will be next semester Saturday January 21st at 10:00am when they travel to Middletown, CT to compete in the second Wesleyan Meet.
