04.22.12

CCRI Tennis finished the last road trip of the 2012 campaign by traveling to Queensbury, NY to play the Timberwolves of SUNY Adirondack, 8-1. The win pushes the season record to 9-1 and the CCRI win streak to eight in a row.

Starting with singles, Michael Fallone (North Providence, RI) defeated Zachary Arpey 6-4 and 6-3 in first singles. Anthony Lamborghini (Smithfield, RI) defeated Stephane Legris in second singles 6-1 and 6-4. Nicholas DeAngelis (Northborough, MA) lost to Evan DeSantis, last year’s SUNY Adirondack’s No. 1, 5-7, 6-1 and 6-3 in third singles. Ross Bouchard (South Kingstown, RI) defeated Shawn Weinberger in fourth singles, 6-3 and 6-2. Timothy Holzinger (Foster, RI) defeated Matt Edwards, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-1 in fifth singles. Nicholas Morin (North Smithfield, RI) prevailed over Dana Fiske 6-1 and 6-0 in sixth singles.

In doubles Fallone teamed-up with Lamborghini and defeated Arpey and Legris in first doubles, 6-1 and 7-6(7-5). Holzinger and Bouchard teamed up to defeat DeSantis and Andre Brown, 6-2 and 6-2. DeAngelis and Morin closed out the day defeating Robert Mastrantoni and Aaron Desmore 6-0 and 7-5 in third doubles. CCRI won the match 8-1.

Head Coach Deb Panzica added “It was great to keep the momentum going for the 2012 version of the CCRI Knights tennis team. The win today signaled the eighth win in a row. We hope to keep our momentum going as we play Bristol CC in our final regular season match on Tuesday, April 24th.  SUNY-Adirondack is poised to challenge Onondaga for the Region III crown so this win was a good one for our program this season.”

The Knights have one regular-season match left and the Region XXI tournament in the 2012 season when they travel to Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA to play the Bees in a Region XXI league match.
