Knights mow-down Mohawk Valley CC 9-0!

The CCRI Knights tennis team traveled to Utica, NY to face the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College.  The Knights rolled to their third straight 9-0 victory. The match was moved indoors due to rain, and had to be shortened to no-ad 8-game pro-sets for every position because there were only three courts. The facility, a brand new field house on the Utica campus of MVCC is absolutely gorgeous, and the Hawks proved gracious hosts.
Starting with singles, Mike Fallone (North Providence, RI) defeated Zachary Miller 8-3 in first singles. Anthony Lamborghini (Smithfield, RI) defeated Joseph Guba in second singles 8-2. Nicholas DeAngelis (Northborough, MA) defeated Joseph Savastano 8-2 in third singles. Ross Bouchard (S. Kingstown, RI) defeated Justin Guba in fourth singles 8-1. Timothy Holzinger (Foster, RI) defeated Arthur Brutsky 8-4 in fifth singles. Nicholas Morin (N. Smithfield, RI) prevailed over Arthur Zhushma 8-1 in sixth singles.
In doubles Fallone teamed-up with Lamborghini and defeated Miller and Savastano in first doubles 8-0. Holzinger and Bouchard teamed up to defeat Guba and Guba 8-1. DeAngelis and Morin closed out the day defeating Brutsky and Zhushma 8-4 in third doubles. CCRI won the match 9-0
Head Coach Deb Panzica commented “It was great to keep the momentum going for the 2012 version of the CCRI Knights tennis team. The win today signaled the seventh win in a row, and the third consecutive 9-0 win – and the fourth of the 2012 campaign – after none in the 2011 season. We hope to keep our momentum going as we visit SUNY Adirondack, tomorrow.”
