Knights overcome Onondaga CC 8-1!

 In their third completed match of the Second Annual CCRI Tennis Invitational the Knight faced the Lazers of Onondaga Community College form Syracuse, NY.  The Knights overcame the Lazers 8-1.  With the victory the Knights improve to 4-1 on the season.  The Knights had also began a match with Mercer County CC over the weekend but the match was not completed and was in a 4-4 tie in sixth singles.   The Mercer Match will be completed the weekend of April 14th and 15th.
 
The Community College of Rhode Island Knights faced the Lazers of Onondaga Community College over the weekend. Starting with doubles, Mike Fallone (North Providence, RI) and Anthony Lamborghini (Smithfield, RI) in first doubles defeated Adam Cadwell and Ari Smith, 6-4. Ross Bouchard (S. Kingstown, RI) and Timothy Holzinger (Foster, RI) won their second doubles contest over Sean Sullivan and Mason Padron, 6-4. Nicholas DeAngelis (Northborough, MA) and Nicholas Morin (N. Smithfield, RI) defeated Andy Parlow and Justin Parlow in third doubles, 6-4. Fallone defeated Cadwell in first singles, 6-4 and 6-0, to finish the weekend undefeated. Lamborghini out-battled Smith in second singles, 6-4 and 6-3. The lone blemish on the score sheet, DeAngelis, fell to Parlow in third singles, 6-0 and 6-1. Bouchard defeated Parlow in fourth singles, 6-0 and 6-0. Holzinger continued his winning ways in fifth singles, defeating Sullivan, 6-0 and 6-3. Morin, in sixth singles in the tightest match of the weekend, prevailed over Padron, 5-7, 6-4 and 1-0(10-4). CCRI won the match 8-1.
 
CCRI Head Coach Deb Panzica commented after the busy weekend “All of our players played well this weekend and we came away 3-0 and have a chance for it to be 4-0 in we can close out Mercer.  All of our single san doubles played well. We look to continue improving as the season progresses and with this talent look forward to a successful run at Nationals.”
 
The next match for the Knights will be Wednesday April 11th when they travel to Fall river, MA to take on the Bees of Bristol Community College at 3:30pm.
