Knights’ bats wallop Warriors 15-1!

The CCRI Knights baseball team traveled to Eastern Connecticut State College in Willimantic, CT to play the Warriors of Eastern CT. JV.  The Knights defeated the Warriors 15-1.  With the victory the Knights improve to 27-9 on the season.

The bats exploded for the Knights as they accumulated 19 hits and 15 runs in seven innings to defeat the Eastern Connecticut Warriors by a score of 15-1.  On the mound for CCRI Ben Libuda (Auburn, MA), Kevin Dale (Warwick, RI), and Rob West (East Windsor, CT) pitched for the Knights giving up only seven hits and striking out seven Warrior batters. Dale pitched the middle three innings to pick up the victory and raise his record to a perfect 5-0 on the season.
The Knights’ offense broke the game wide open by scoring 11 runs on 10 hits in the second inning capped off by Mo Checo's (Providence, RI) grand slam over the wall in left centerfield. Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (North Stonington, CT) led the attack with four hits including two doubles and five RBIs. Dylan Gracia (Middletown, RI),  Marc Dorsi (West Haven, CT), and John Razzino (Cranston, RI) chipped in with three hits apiece while Jamale Horn (Hoover, AL) chipped in with a couple of doubles and two RBIs.
The Knights return home Wednesday for a 4pm home game against Region XXI opponent Buccaneers of Mass Bay Community College form Wellesley Hills, MA.
