Knights split with doubleheader Dean
The CCRK Knights baseball team traveled to Longley field in Franklin, MA to play the Region XXI rival Bulldogs of Dean College. The Knights and Bulldogs split the doubleheader with the Knights winning the first game 13-6 before falling I the second 11-3. With the split the Knights are now 26-9 on the season and 10-3 in Region XXI play.
Game 1: CCRI- 13 Dean- 6
Jamale Horn (Hoover, AL) paced a strong offensive attack with three hits and seven RBIs including a three run homer in the top of the first inning to propel the Knights to victory in game one of their conference game against the Dean College Bulldogs. Marc Dorsi (West Haven, CT), Nick Coro (North Providence, RI), and Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (North Stonington, CT) also chipped in with three hits apiece and John Razzino (Cranston, RI) added two more hits to pace the 17-hit attack.
On the mound Brendan Cabral (Scituate, RI) continued his winning ways as he picked-up the victory going six strong innings scattering eight hits while striking out six Bulldog hitters. Dylan Pingitore (Johnston, RI) pitched a scoreless seventh inning striking out three batters to preserve the victory.
Game 2: CCRI-3 Dean- 11
Dean College exploded for 14 hits and 11 runs to stop the CCRI winning streak at 12 games. Connor Gleason (North Stonington, CT) gave up his first loss of the season as the Bulldogs got nine hits and seven runs over four innings. Dean scored four runs in the fourth innings and added four more in the fifth to break open a 3-3 tie and pull away for the victory.
The Knights’ offense could muster only five singles over the seven innings as CCRI suffered their first defeat in the last 13 games. The Knights will travel to Eastern Connecticut for a 4:00pm start on Tuesday and return home on Wednesday for a game with Mass Bay Community College.
