No. 17 ranked Knights sink Sharks 9-4 and 11-0!

The CCRI Knights baseball team traveled to Roxbury Crossing, MA to play the Tigers of Roxbury Community College on Monday for a Region XXI non-league game.  The Knights defeated the Tigers 10-1.  With the victory the Knights win their eighth in a row and improve to 22-8 on the season and 9-2 in Region XXI play.

On the mound for the Knights Joe Portukalian (Cranston, RI) picked-up his first win of the season for the Knights as he scattered four hits over five innings giving up only one run in the bottom of the third inning while striking out five Roxbury hitters. Max Perry (Pawtucket, RI) came on in relief over the last two innings giving up only two hits and no runs while striking out five to preserve the victory.
 
The Knights offense continued to put up big numbers as they scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back. They added five more runs in the top of the seventh inning to break the game open and notch their 22nd win of the season.  John Razzino (Cranston, RI) continues to pace the Knights offense with three hits, a run scored and three stolen bases. Mike Sherburne (North Kingstown, RI) added three hits with two doubles and two runs scored, and Rodger Lincoln (East Providence, RI) added two hits, a walk, and three RBIs to lead the CCRI attack.
 
The Knights take a well-deserved day off on Tuesday. The team travels to Manchester, NH on Wednesday for a 3:00pm doubleheader against the University of Southern New Hampshire.
