Knights “Mercy” Mass Bay CC 14-4!
The CCRI Knights traveled to Wellesley Hills, MA to play the Buccaneers of Mass Bay Community College on Wednesday for a Region XXI non-league game. The Knights beta the Buccaneers 14-4 by the mercy rule. With the victory the Knights improve to 18-8 on the season and 7-2 in Region XXI play.

The Knights continued their torrid hitting as they pounded out 16 hit in six innings for a 14-4 victory over Mass Bay Community College. Freshman Dylan Pingitore (Johnston, RI) picked-up his first victory of the season as he scattered eight hits over five innings while striking out four Buccaneers’ batters. Sophomore Roger Lincoln (East Providence, RI) came on in the sixth inning to close out the game.
The offense exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to break the game open. They added three more in both the fifth and sixth innings to win via the10-run mercy rule. Jamale Horn (Hoover, AL) led the way with two hits and five RBIs. Horn had a two-RBI single in the fourth and a base clearing triple in the fifth to pace the Knights offense. Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (North Stonington, CT) also continued his hot hitting as he contributed three hits and four RBI. Marc Dorsi (West Haven, CT) and Tyler Santaniello (Lincoln, RI) also chipped in with three hits apiece. Dorsi is leading the Knights with an impressive .464 batting average which ranks him No. 23 in NJCAA Division II baseball. He has 26 hits in 56 at bats including seven doubles, a triple and a home run with 19 runs scored and 18 RBIs. Mo Checo (Providence, RI) was singled out with a game ball by Knights’ Head Coach Ken Hopkins for making several spectacular plays at shortstop that solidified the CCRI defense.
The Knights will be host Holyoke Community College from Holyoke, MA today, Thursday the 12th at 4:00pm at Fell Field located on the CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick.
