Marc Dorsi (West Haven, CT) continued his clutch hitting with a single to center to drive in the sixth run of the game in the top of the eighth inning as the Knights hung on for a 6-5 victory over Eastern Connecticut. The Knights scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning on a walk, a double by Mickey Gonzalez (Jersey City, NJ) that drove in one run, and an RBI single by John Razzino (Cranston, RI) to tie the game. CCRI added three more runs in the top of the eighth inning on a walk, a double by Andrew Crowley (Canton, CT), and Dorsi's RBI single that proved to be the winning run. Eastern came back to score single runs in the eighth and ninth innings only to have their rally stuffed out by some fine defensive work by Mike Sherburne (North Kingstown, CT) in right field.
Freshman Ben Libuda (Auburn, MA) once again gave the Knights a quality start as he pitched five strong innings giving up only three runs on five hits with two strikeouts. Kevin Dale (Warwick, RI) came on in relief of Libuda in the top of the sixth and picked up the victory by pitching four quality innings scattering four hits and two runs with two strikeouts.
The Knights continue their schedule with a road trip to Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA on Friday for a 4pm start.
