Knights sweep Dean in Doubleheader 10-0 and 7-2!

The CCRI Knights baseball team hosted the Bulldogs of Dean College for a doubleheader on Sunday.  The knights defeated the Bulldogs 10-0 and 7-2.  With the two victories the Knights improve to 12-7 overall and 4-1 in Region XXI play.
 
Game 1: CCRI- 10 Dean- 0
Freshman pitcher Todd Lyons (Norwalk, CT) pitched a complete game one-hitter as the Knights rolled to a 10-0 win in game one of the doubleheader. Lyons was scintillating, giving-up a lone single in the top of the seventh inning to go along with three walks and dominating with 10 strikeouts to pick up his third victory of the season.
 
The offense exploded with six runs in the fourth inning as they batted around the lineup. The Knights added two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to finish the scoring. CCRI was led by Tyler Santaniello (Lincoln, RI), Dylan Gracia (Middletown, RI), Andrew Crowley (Canton, CT), and Mo Checo (Providence, RI) who each had two hits apiece. The Knights’ offense finished off game one with 10 hits and capitalized on some Dean errors to increase the scoring.
 
Game 2: CCRI- 7 Dean- 2
Freshman Connor Gleason (North Stonington, CT) continues to turn in masterful performances on the mound as he picked up his fifth win against no defeats for the Knights. Gleason gave up only two runs over seven innings scattering four hits while striking out nine Bulldog hitters.
 
Co-Captain Tom Gavitt (North Stonington, CT) and Marc Dorsi (West haven, CT) paced the offense with two hits apiece as Gavitt launched his second homer of the season in the fifth inning and Dorsi added doubles in the first and sixth innings to drive in a couple of runs. Also helping the Knights was Tyler Santaniello and Dylan Gracia who chipped in with two hits apiece to lead the Knights offensive attack.
 
The Knights’ next game will be played on Tuesday at the April 3rd at 4:00pm against Monroe College of New Rochelle, NY at Fell Field on the CCRI Knights in Warwick.
