Cox and Allen lead Knights at Solomon Invite!
The CCRI track & field team traveled to the Northeastern University outdoor track & field complex in Dedham, MA to compete in the Solomon Invitational on Saturday.
Leading the way for the Knights was Anthony Cox (Brooklyn, NY) won the 200m dash in a NJCAA national qualifying time of 22.74 seconds. Cox came back to place second in his first time ever in the long jump with a NJCAA national qualifying leap of 6.50m. In addition, he placed third in the 100m in a time of 11.29. Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI) won the 1,500m run in a new school record of 3 minutes 56.76 seconds beating his former record time of 4:03.82 which he set at the Corsair Classic April 7th.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights Cassandra Gustafson (Pawtucket, RI) placed 6th in the Javelin with a throw of 29.25m followed by Jess Randall (Warwick, RI) who placed 10th with a toss of 26.11. Randall came back to place 8th in the shot put with an 8.64m effort.
Other Knights who also did well included Marciano Brunette (Narragansett, RI) who placed 10th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.97 and 15th in the long jump with a leap of 5.39m. Howard Homes (Narragansett, RI) in his first meet of the season placed 13th in the shot put with an 11.88m effort. Robert Brothers (Cranston, RI) placed 27th in the 1500m run with a personal best of 4:42.23. Ephraim Soe (Providence, RI) placed 15th in the 100m dash in a time of 11.86. Soe placed 16th in the long jump with a 5.19m effort and 16th in the 200m with a time of 24.33.
The next meet for CCRI will be Saturday the 21st when they travel to New London, CT to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational beginning at 10:00am.
