Nancy Wyllie

Nancy Wyllie Nancy E. Wyllie is a digital artist who holds Master’s degrees from RISD and Tulane University. In 1987-88, she studied film at NYU. In 2002, Wyllie was one of 14 film and video professionals to complete first Final Cut Pro course offered by RISD/CCE. She has exhibited her photo-based work in New York at White Columns, The Alternative Museum, Artist’s Space and P.P.O.W. as well as Brandeis University, Ohio State University, Marymount Manhattan College, Providence College and M.I.T. In 2000, she was one of five Americans to represent the U.S. at The 3rd International Festival of Experimental and Performing Art in St. Petersburg, Russia, an event curated by the Dostoyevsky Foundation in London. She is a Professor of Art at the Community College of Rhode Island where she teaches courses in digital media.

 In 2007, her video Forced Migration premiered at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival and was selected for screening at the Action on Film Festival , Long Beach Convention Center. Her video titled Childhood Memory:  A Nuclear Tale was included in “Dreams & Possibilities” at the Whitney Museum of American Art at Altria.

  Benjamin Rising (2009) was one of 22 films selected for Female Shorts : Film and Video Showcase / Celebrating Cinematic Work of Women in the Arts June 3-6, 2010 at The Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. Female Shorts is part of the Virginia Commission for the Arts 2010 statewide celebration, Minds Wide Open, which celebrates women in the arts. Benjamin Rising was an “Official Selection” at The Twin Rivers Media Festival May 2010.

 Wyllie’s experimental video short titled NOTHING was screened in London at The Topolski Century Gallery in an arts event “Celebrating the Pomp us….” on December 18 & 19, 2010 and was one of 10 videos selected for screening at the WCA International Video Shorts Festival at the 2011 College Art Association meeting in New York. Her video art will be included in Persona Art Festival 2011 at The Rag Factory in London later this year.
