Community Service Day
Students, faculty and staff volunteered their time and talents at eight nonprofits across the state during the sixth annual Community Service Day on March 27.
This year’s sites were: The Station Fire Memorial Foundation in West Warwick; The Boys and Girls Club of Newport County in Newport; Heads Up Inc. in Providence; The Wood-Pawcatuck Watershed Association in Hope Valley; The House of Compassion in Cumberland; The Artists’ Exchange in Cranston; and The Rhode Island Family Shelter and The Donate Shop, both in Warwick.
CCRI volunteers completed tasks such as sorting and organizing donations; raking and landscaping; painting; and much more. CCRI President Ray Di Pasquale visited several of the sites that day and remarked on the incredible hardships that our state’s nonprofits are facing in these challenging economic times and how proud he was to see members of the CCRI community helping them.
