Determining a student’s place
CCRI requires that all students accepted into a degree or certificate program complete the mandatory ACCUPLACER writing, reading and math placement tests before registering for classes. Those who meet or exceed CCRI proficiency
benchmarks are college ready.
In the fall of 2016, approximately 2,809 first-time-in-college students completed the ACCUPLACER placement test. Here's how they scored:

Of the 1,885 students who did require development coursework:

Of the 1,885 students who placed into at least one developmental course:
- 94 percent or 1,767 students required developmental coursework in mathematics
- 64 percent or 1,207 students required developmental coursework in reading

CCRI is working to improve approaches to developmental education through strengthening our K-12 partnerships and multiple measures assessment for placement.
