Joanne Jacobs questioned the need for testing chemicals and requested that testing for dust, molds, and other biologicals be conducted. No plans for this type of testing at this time, but it was mentioned that preventative measures are taken; such as, regular cleaning and changing of air filters which includes spraying those areas with a disinfectant.
Committee members should express to their constituency the importance of reporting environmental and safety issues to the appropriate personnel so that problems can be corrected as quickly as possible.
Joanne Jacobs is providing the Dean of Administration's Office with information on indoor air quality.
Donna Scattone expressed concerns about the air quality in the computer lab at the Knight Campus. Dennis to check on this: Also suggested, turn on air in that area earlier than is currently being done.
Questions whether concrete at Knight Campus is sealed. Reported that this is done periodically.
Trash bins on the ground floor are being replaced with new bins that do not leak. New bins and attention to housekeeping; ie, closing garbage room doors should solve problem.
Request to remove smokers from main entrance of the Knight Campus was discussed, no plans to act on this at this time; however, more attention will be devoted to area clean up.
Ed Jacques expressed concerns about running diesel powered vehicles in the building. Was an isolated case and steps have been taken to rectify this problem.
