Federal College Work Study (FCWS) and CCRI Student Help (SH)

Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study is one of the Title IV federal financial aid programs. It is awarded to students based on their demonstrated financial need using information from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Through this program students may earn up to the amount listed on their financial aid award and 75% of their wages will be subsidized by the federal government and 25% by the college. Due to this subsidy, some employers prefer students with Federal Work Study awards and their job postings will state this. Federal Work Study positions can be found in nearly every office on campus, as well as in CCRI recreational facilities, libraries, and computer labs. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to be eligible. This means that you must follow the standards of academic progress as outlined on the Financial Aid Web site.

CCRI Student Help

If you do not apply for financial aid, apply for financial aid late, or do not have financial need, you may be offered CCRI Student Help.  This employment program is funded 100% by the college. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to be eligible. This means that you must follow the standards of academic progress as outlined on the Financial Aid Web site.

Both the Federal Work Study and Student Help programs allow students to work on campus. All students are paid according to the skill level of the position they hold, not according to a certain work program or their year in school. Both are subject to Academic Eligibility as set forth by the Federal Government in the regulation of the Federal Work Study program.
