Course Description

This course is designed particularly for employees of travel agencies, those in wholesale/retail or import/export businesses and those individuals who are planning a cultural trip to Italy. The course is tailored to the needs of the individual who wants to gain knowledge and appreciation of the Italian language and culture in the most expedient time. Emphasis is placed on common verbal expressions for basic communication, such as greetings, lodging, shopping, food, transportation and cultural information about Italian cities, customs and  traditions.

Course objectives

As a result of this course, a student will be able to:

Il corso si propone di presentare una panoramica di nozioni basiliari per coloro che lavorano presso agenzie di viaggi, compagnie di importazioni ed esportazioni, e per coloro che si preparano per un viaggio culturale in Italia.

Il corso č condotto in italiano e nessun prerequisito č richiesto (né culturale né linguistico) per la sua frequenza.

Course Requirements
  1. Students will act responsibly: interest, attendance, preparation, contribution to the class, and respect for each other.
  2. In order to facilitate learning, classroom propriety shall be maintained at all times; food is not permitted in the classroom. In consideration of the instructor and other students, punctual attendance at all class meetings is required and cellular phones, pagers, and watch alarms should be switched off during class.
  3. Homework assignment will be given during class meetings. Students are expected to spend several hours a week on class assignments. Homework will be reviewed in class or collected by instructor.
