Why CCRI?
...a great place to start!
CCRI is a great place to start your post-secondary education. In fact, more than half of all full-time freshmen attend community colleges nationwide. You may choose to earn an associate’s degree or a certificate at CCRI; and then enter the workplace, or earn a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college of university. In addition, CCRI is the choice of Rhode Island workers seeking to upgrade their skills for a promotion or career change.
Education Pays. Research shows that education pays. Students who complete associate degrees and certificates are more likely to move to higher status jobs with higher earnings. In fact, students who earn associate’s degrees earn an average of $250,00-$400,000*, more during their lifetimes than people without degrees.

Affordable
Tuition and
Financial Aid Opportunities
CCRI tuition and fees are the lowest of any post-secondary school in the state. A Deferred Payment Plan is available for students so tuition can be paid in four installments with no interest.
Thousands of CCRI students receive financial aid. Financial aid is awarded in the form of grants, scholarships, loans and paid employment to assist students in meeting their educational expenses. Financial aid at CCRI is specially designed to help those students whose limited financial resources would seriously jeopardize their ability to begin or continue their college careers.
Academic Support
A wide variety of support services are available to assist CCRI students with academics. The Office of Advising and Counseling offers academic advising for students with program and course selection concerns and provides career counseling for students requesting help in establishing educational and career goals. Counselors also assist students with transfer planning to ensure a smooth transition and maximum transfer of credits to four-year institutions. Student Success Centers help students who are having difficulty with a course and would like to work with a tutor or a study group, or are unsure about a future career or educational plans, or who need access to additional resources, referrals, and information. Programs and services, including reading, writing and math assistance, as well as access to computers and software are provided.
Access (TRIO Student Support Services) is a retention program designed to assist 300 students per year who have academic potential but whose specific needs may interfere with their success in college. To qualify for this program, students must be low-income and/or first generation in college (neither parent having graduated from a four-year college) or have a disability. The purpose of Access, a program formatted by the U.S. Department of Education, is to help students graduate from CCRI and transfer to a four-year college or university.
Technology
Students have access to a wide variety of technology resources on all campuses in classrooms, labs and from home. Open computer labs containing Internet-connected computers and printers are available to students seven days a week at each main campus. These labs provide access to special course-related software as well as standard software for electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets and browsing the Internet.
Students are provided accounts to CCRI’s Web portal, Pipeline. Through Pipeline, they can register for courses; check grades, transcripts, degree audits, financial aid and billing accounts; access course resources; and utilize web-based e-mail.
Technology support is available through the Technology Help Center, which provides first-line technology-related assistance. In addition, free non-credit training classes are offered to orient students to Pipeline, Microsoft Word and campus technology resources.
Transfer to Four-Year Colleges and Universities
Nearly half of the students who come to CCRI continue their education at four-year colleges and universities after earning an associate’s degree. CCRI has formal transfer agreements with approximately 75 colleges and universities and the number is growing. In every sense, CCRI is often the gateway to higher education, advanced degrees, and professional growth and achievement.
